Scope of Project: The project will further analyze data from a study of the
intersection of substance abuse and welfare reform originally funded by the
Robert Wood Johnson Foundation-Substance Abuse Policy Research Program. Findings will contribute to a better understanding of the scope of substance abuse in a large and complex California county; will help evaluate existing CalWORKs policies regarding substance abuse; will provide insight into the interface between welfare and healthcare in the CalWORKs system; and will provide a basis for policy recommendatons.
