Funding Agency: National Institute on Drug Abuse
(NIDA)
Funding Period: December 2002-November 2007

of GHB withdrawal by medical monitoring, withdrawal rating scales
and EEG studies 2) to determine predictors of withdrawal severity
and good treatment response 3) to determine the safety and feasibility
of using open-label low dose lorazepam for the treatment of mild
GHB withdrawal and 4) to determine in a randomized control trial
if high dose pentobarbital compared to lorazepam is more effective
for treating moderate to severe withdrawal The long-term goals
of these projects are to identify predictors of withdrawal severity
and develop and validate treatment guidelines for GHB withdrawal.
